My Home

For some, this post may be kind of boring. They are just pictures of my home. When I was there last weekend. My Mom and I were swinging on the back porch and she said, "These are the evenings that make all the work worth it." The sun was going down and everything was beautiful and quiet. It was one of those moments where you think life can't get any better.

This is the sidewalk where me and Lisle use to roller skate all the time and where we would ambush our sisters dates when they came to pick them up.

This is the lane with lane trees that I use to hate watering for my Mom. Through the gate is the field that we use to hate moving pipe on because it was forever long. To the right of that big tree, used to be plum trees that we would play in and eat plums until we were sick.

This is our house that is well over 100 years old.

The lane again, just because I thought it was pretty.

To the right of that fence is the orchard.

My house again.

... and again.

This is a gateway to the orchard. We used to hide in the apple trees with a salt shaker eating apples while hiding from my Mom so she wouldn't make us work.

There is the big barn and the little barn. Where we would stack hay, clean out the barn, lambing season, clean out the barn, hold barn dances, clean out the barn, play night games, shoot lots of pigeons, and clean out the barn.

Another shot of the orchard. The weeds used to get so tall in there, we would have so much fun playing hide-n-go-seek.

This hill was/is a beast to mow. But on the 4th of July we would get blankets and sit on this hill and watch the fireworks from all the different towns and take turns cranking the home made ice cream (that was before that apricot tree got so big, it kind of takes up the view now).

This is the porch swing me and my Mom were swinging on. I love my Mom. She is truly amazing. She is the one who made the farm so beautiful. It is hard for me to describe her. I don't think there is anything she can't do. She sews, plays the piano and the organ, she sings, cooks, bakes the most delicious bread and sweet rolls, her house is always immaculate, she grows a wonderful garden, and builds pole fences all by herself, including the new sheep corals and cow shoot, she drives the tractors, not to mention she raised ten children (and now has 27 grandchildren and two on the way) and so much more. She works harder then anyone I know. I could write a book on my mom...maybe I will someday. I really love my Mom.

This is the back side of the house. The big part on the left was added on in 2002 to accommodate our growing family.

This is the backyard where we have shot many elk and deer. My Dad and brothers and brother-in-laws have hunted all over the mountain, but at the end of the day, this is where they shoot them.

You can't really see it, but on that hill is what is affectionately known as "the rock". It is just a huge rock where we use to pack our raisins (we rarely had candy in the house growing up so the next best thing was raisins) and we would go there and hide from Mom so she wouldn't put us to work.

This cow was staring at me when I was taking pictures, so she made it on the blog.

Another shot of the farm. The grainary is that little shed at the bottom of the hill where we use to play a lot - yet another place to hide from Mom.

Jazz Game

Rustin's boss has Jazz season tickets on the 4th row and he couldn't go to the Thursday night game so he gave them to us. It was so fun to be so close. We had so much fun.

The Deer Hunt

These are the mighty hunters. We always go home for the deer hunt and Rustin claims the only reason he is able to get a deer every year is because of his "deer hunt beard". The good news is, he has since shaved.

This is the deer he shot last year (sorry about the blood but its the only picture I have). I was there with him, pregnant and in camo, but we forgot to take a picture with me in it. This little deer wasn't much more than Bambi but we only have Saturday to hunt so Rustin shoots the first thing he sees with antlers.

He got a little three point this year. But next year I'm going to put in for the hunt. The only thing I've ever killed is a ground squirrel so it we'll see how it goes. I just want to do it once.

Meet Elsie

This is my neice Elsie. She belongs to Anna and Joe. She is one month older than Tyce, to the day actually. Although, Tyce is about twice her size. I could not pass up the chance to post these pictures of Elsie. She is so much fun...just like her Mom.

Girls Night Out

My sisters had a girls night out and Hayley had the idea to dress up our thumbs for a kind of Halloween festivity. It was really funny. We had a good time, so if anyone needs an idea for a Halloween party, this is a good one. Here are our creations.

Heidi made this cute thumb witch. Not only is this witch pretty incredible but she hot glued the witch's tin foil nose to her thumb...so she won the contest hands down.

Hayley and my Mom were Obama and McCain. They were so great. I laughed really hard.

Lisle missed the memo about the thumb and dressed up her middle finger as big bird. Chad (her husband) said this was the only time she could flip anyone off. This was the hit of the night.

Maggon drew a witch on my thumb and a kitty on hers. We named the witch Warlock but she was quite out done by Heidi's witch.

Stacey carved and cored an apple. She was the smart one because she could take it off and was the only one at the party with the use of her thumb.

And last but not least. Anna's Cookie Monster. Classic - I loved this one.

Grandma and Katrina brought their thumbs in their birthday suits. Never a dull moment with the Palmer girls. Every time we get together, it is like we're twelve again.

Random Pics

My sisters came to visit for a few days and Evelyn and Tyce (sort of) took tub together.

Tyce loves chocolate. I can take anything away from him and he doesn't even care but if I try to take chocolate away, he gets ticked.

Left Hand Fork Canyon

The other weekend we borrowed our friends Rhino and took a drive up Left Hand Fork. It was absolutely gorgeous. The colors were amazing. We had such a good time.

Tyce loved it, but it wore him right out.
