The Deer Hunt

Rustin and I went deer hunting last Saturday and I can honestly say it was one of the funnest days we have had in a long time. I love the opener of the deer hunt because Rustin and his Dad, Uncles, and cousins are all like giddy school girls.
Rustin's Dad insisted we be up at 4:30, but wouldnt you know it, we got there way before light and had to sit in the truck until we could see a little bit - so typical. Hurry up and wait. O-well I took the first of three little naps that day.
The weather couldnt have been more perfect. It was cool but just nice! The mountain was gorgeous and the company was great.

We stared at this hill for a couple of hours, while I ate jerky, starbursts, jolly ranchers and gummy worms.....and then I took another little nap.
Rustin let me hold the gun once in awhile so I could feel useful.

This is the real reason men hunt i think. You get to take several naps on the mountain - thats pretty sweet.

So that evening we hiked for awhile and split up from Dad and Allen. After awhile and seeing only a few does and fawns, we couldnt find anyone so we decided to sit down. We sat there for a bit and up on the hill about 150-200 yards in front of us, out walks a buck. It wasnt super big, maybe an 18 inch 4x4. It had a big body but Rustin thought he would pass it up. It kept standing there broad-side just begging to be shot and we were really tempted but finally decided to wait. A few minutes later we hear something coming from behind us. We see a deer jogging up behind us on the hillside but couldnt tell how big it was as it was running through the pines. We caught a enough of a glimpse to know that it was not one we should pass up. Rustin got ready and I told him when it would get to a clearing. There was a small clearing and as it jogged through, Rustin hit it in the left shoulder.....right shoulder? I cant remember...... course I wouldnt know if it was right or left if I was staring at it, ha. We werent sure if we hit it so we waited a minute til I couldnt stand it anymore and then ran over. It was seriously such a thrill! I wanted to jump up and down and scream "Yippy!" but rustin kept holding my arm and saying that if it wasnt dead that we didnt want to spook it so I had to stay under control. Well we found it and it was a very nice buck. I was so excited. It was the first time I have seen it happen in the mountains. Usually we just go to my parents alfalfa field, find a nice dead rest and pick which buck you want. Shoot it, pick it up with the tractor and a way you go. But this was so much more fun. It was seriously the perfect day - beautiful weather, gorgeous mountains, all the jerky and gummy worms I could eat, took 3 little naps, and came home with a nice buck. It was picture perfect.

Girls Night Out - Couching

Here are a few more Girls Night pic's I kiffed from my sisters blog.
We went to the Cheesecake Factory on that Saturday and no one could seem to finish their cheesecakes.....I finished them off just fine - wimps.
We did a little couching at City Creek. When I say 'we' I mean 'I'. Charity told me to be seductive and I just couldnt quite pull it off. (Wow, I seriously just had to look up how to spell the word "seductive", ha!)

One of the benches at"This is the Place" was a little hazardous. When I leaned on it, it rolled down the hill and took me with it.......but not to be defeated, I found a sturdy wagon wheel bench.
I gave up on seductive and rather tried for a pensive, gaze off into the sunset look but failed that one too. Guess my modeling career is not looking too bright. I just look like a big nerd but we had some great laughs anyway. Such a fun weekend!

Girls Night Out

We had a sisters weekend at City Creek in Salt Lake and it was so much fun!
We had a fabulous time at City Creek.....had a not so fabulous time at the hotel. Word of advice. Dont ever stay at the Hyatt. Wow.
We cruised around and got lost a bunch, spent forever trying to find parking, etc. Turns out all these farm girls dont do so well in Salt Lake, but we managed and lots of great laughs.

This is the top of the conference center and is also where my camera died so I wasnt able to take pictures of the rest. We went to This is the Place Village and had a great time.

Sure love my sisters.

Recent happenings...

Jacey said she had to get ready for work and as you can see, she has everything a person might need for the work place; necklace, backpack, Ariel high heels, stroller, baby and pumpkin. perfect.
We went up the canyon to spend an afternoon. It was gorgeous and the Fall/mountain air was delicious.

I was talking about how the leaves change colors and Tyce seemed so disgusted that none of the leaves turn blue. I dont why but it made me chuckle for days. He's so funny. I love the way his little mind works.

They found a centipede and boy was it in the wrong place at the wrong time. It was pretty much dissected by the time they got done with it.
I was seriously belly laughing because Tyce was trying to carefully get the centipede on the leaf and Jacey was frantically trying to smash it. The exchange between the two was a crack up. I love their two personalities. They are at the funnest ages - I am so loving this phase.

We went to Rustin's cousin's wedding a few weeks ago. Rustin took this picture and I just had to laugh at how similar the two pairs of siblings look. You could pick them out of anywhere. Pretty cute.
The reception was at This is the Place and they had a train there to take you on a ride. It couldnt have been more perfect. The kids loved it.
Please forgive the redundant pictures below but I just love how they captured so many of Jacey's expressions. And her unruly hair is my favorite. It matches her so perfectly. We were cleaning out the garden and then Tyce found a praying mantis and they got totally side tracked.

This one is probably my favorite. Its one of her expressions I see all the time but is so hard to capture. Love, love it.
Very pensive :)

So two days ago, Jacey decided that she wouldnt wear a diaper anymore so I gave her some princess underwear which she was thrilled about and she only had one accident all day. So the next day we tried again and did not get the same result. Once was enough I guess so we're back in diapers. That is just like her. Its like her colors. I am pretty certain she knows her colors but she purposely says the wrong color when I ask just because she doesnt want anyone telling her what color it is. SHE would like to decide what colors they are and will not be told what colors they are. She is a very independent little soul - it may or may not put me in my grave :)
We went to Idaho this last weekend to spend the weekend with my sister Charity and her family. It was so much fun. We went on a little hike which was very fun.
I love how Tyce is choking Jacey in this picture, trying to keep her there. So cute.
